Aggressive walking away
My dog is not pure pit. She's a mix, but unsure with what. She is 6 years old. Generally ver sweet and friendly. Not great with other dogs. Has never bit any one or another dog. Will aggressively act as though she is going to go after another dog when I'm walking her. I've learned to avoid other dogs.
The latest problem has sprung up in the last year. She's normally friendly to humans, even strangers. She will wag her tail and move to a stranger. She will allow the to pet her, and she acts friendly when they do. The problem happens when I begin to walk away from the stranger she will suddenly become aggressive, growling and lunging at the same stranger she was just nice to. It really startles people and I have to pull her back and apologize.
What can I do to better handle these interactions? I try and avoid people but sometimes it's impossible. Again she has never bitten anyone, but is beginning to worry me that she might. At the least I hate her to scare people. She's been a wonderful dog all these years. I've had since she was abou 6 months old.
