Guarding Toys from other Dog??

Hey guys, so I have a six month old pit puppy, Jayda, at home and a 2 (almost 3 year) old Shiba Inu, Chase. They love to play a lot, however Jayda tends to guard a lot of toys from Chase and it leads to fighting. Even if Jayda has a toy, and we give Chase another one to focus on, she will run and grab whatever toy is being used and won't let him have it. I worry about this becoming a serious problem in the future. Any tips to correct this? Help!

Keep high value items out of the picture. In my opinion avoiding altercations all together is the safest way to handle resource guarding. Allow the high value items during individual play only.

Okay, I will do that. Thank you for your advice. Also, whenever she is on the couch, he will go over to try to get her off. Or if she goes into his bed. It usually starts up a fight or rough play. It sounds like a territorial issue but I'm not completely sure. They kind of do this to each other, but more of Chase towards her.

They are trying to establish the order of rank. You need to nip it in the bud now, or it will become an issue later. When one is on the couch, the other needs to be at a down stay away from the couch. Begin implementing NILIF (nothing in life is free) No more getting on the couch without permission. They must sit and wait for permission to do all things. After awhile, they will stop trying to bulldoze each other to get what they want and they'll start looking at you first to see what you want.
Also start working on a leave it command as well as a drop it command. This may help cool things off when the "play" becomes too heated.
Learn their body language. In time you'll be able to tell if they're being jerks, or just trying to play.
