At a loss

Hi let me start off by saying I’m in a bad place with not a lot of options my boy who is around ten I found him tied up at the age of two and took him in he’s always been super protective of me but two days ago he bit my husband numerous times it happened as I was in the phone I raised my voice my husband said calm down in a low voice he didn’t even raise his voice and the dog attacked him bittong both arms and his leg he is currently in the hospital with an infection I do not want to have to put my baby down but I feel I have no choice because I have two kids living at home and it could of been one of them I contacted a few rescues and no one will take him because of his age just sad and don’t know how I’m going to be able to do this I’ve spoken to a behavioralist who says it can be a possible tumor I just don’t know what to do sorry I needed to vent

Welcome to the forum Cstar77872. First, really sorry this happened. Tough situation but really not a hard decision. I would let your vet do a physical exam and see if there is a curable illness that caused the dog to react that way. If not then I would put the dog down while it is there. At no age should a balanced dog have human aggression. As soon as you mentioned that there are children in the household it would be a very fast choice, the dog needs to be put down. I am fully aware how attached you can get to a family dog but this is not an accident or a quick nip as a warning. This is a full out attack. For me a no brainer, the dog could never be trusted not to do the same thing to anyone. Best of luck with things.
