inflamatory words

Why is it the cop "fought off" the pit bull who tugged at his pant leg? No pun intended here but are the journalsits so limited by their vocabulary that agressive and agressive words be coupled only with the dog breed of APBT? The journalists too are part of the problem. The cop said, "The dog was no problem." but how many folks will read the headline , reassure themselves of the common media frenzy of our ferocious and hate inspiring dogs and continue to remian ignorant of our dogs? IMHO
It was a good read and thanks for posting the good stuff.

Well I caught this while posting this news report...

First its... Police Officer Saves Woman in Burning Building

Right after Officer Trillo pulled her the woman out of the house, he noticed a pitbull had grabbed onto his pant leg. Family members calmed down the dog and ...

Then this... Officer saves woman as pit bull attacks

A Wichita police officer responding to a house fire crawled through a wall of smoke and rescued a 75-year-old woman as he was being attacked by a pit bull, police said today.

The officer, V.W. Trillo, was not injured; the woman was taken to a hospital burn unit in serious condition, police spokesman Gordon Bassham said.

The house fire occurred about 7:30 a.m. today in the 500 block of West MacArthur. Trillo was one of the first people on the scene, before firefighters arrived, Bassham said.

Trillo went into the home to look for possible victims and encountered thick smoke as he crawled into a kitchen, where he found the 75-year-old woman.

As he took her out of the home, he came under attack by a pit bull. Relatives and neighbors subdued the dog, Bassham said.

This article is total crap. First of all, maybe the dog was being defensive of his family member, but if the officer had truly been attacked, he would have more than a hole in his pant leg. Maybe the dog was just trying to help - *shrugs* - but from what Marty posted, I am almost lead to believe that the journalists started writing the truth, but then decided that they wanted to sensationalize it to what? Get more hits on the webiste? Get more viewers on the 5 o'clock news?

The whole thing is in poor taste IMO. Had it been a Golden Retriever tugging on his pants, it would probably not have even been mentioned.

BOO!!!

I was personally glad they didnt shoot it. Im sick of every time I see anything that has to do with a dog that might even somewhat resemble a pit they just automatically shoot it. But I agree the author is playing with words.

and why do they insist on shooting to kill, they love to use the tasers on the locals around here. id rather them taser the dogs also. i bet u would find out just how game ur dog was then (kids dont try this at home).

Is that how we are going to start game testing? With tazers lol. I dunno around here in Knoxville TN every time they see a pit they just shoot it I wish they would tazer it and take it to humane society but the cops are sooooooo scared of our people friendly dogs.
