Question I have a couple of ?'s about feeding raw

I'm thinking about feeding raw but only once or twice a week. Is there any point or should I not worry about it unless I completely switch to feeding raw? My next question is, if I go hunting and kill an animal like a squirrel, rabbit, or deer or something if I clean it can I feed it to my dog? If anything should I even clean it or leave the organs? Just something that I have been thinking about. Thanks in advance.

I don't see anything wrong with feeding raw and kibble. Though I would probably wait 12 in between switching on and off. My folks actually used to feed raw and kibble mixed to their dogs and we never had any problems other than gas so that is why I would try to keep them separate.

As for catching wild animals, they need to be frozen SOLID for 3 weeks to kill parasites. Raccoons can not be used as they have a nasty parasite that doesn't get killed by freezing. At least that is what I read.

Read up on the PMR (PREY MODEL RAW) website.

Rulee of tumb on wild animals freeze them for 30 days before feeding so there are no parasites. Organs I would almost leave if small animal like squirrels. I would clean a deer and such to store it in smaller portions. That is what I do. I feed the organs too but watch not to give to much of them.

Whats so great about raw? Think of it this way, its a species appropriate diet. Meaning, its what a dog is supposed to eat. They truly thrive on it. Their bodies work best on it and it keeps them in a generally healthier condition all over when feeding it.
Its like if we ate what we are supposed to eat, we would be full of energy and vigor as well as being much healthier and longer lived.

As for feeding raw and kibble together, you can do off and on. I fed kibble one day and raw the next just fine. I think its best to feed raw by itself but feeding it half half isnt going to hurt anything.
