Well my vca tries to shove all this stuff down my throat like salesman as opposed to seeming concerned with my pup and theyre so expensive! Like the other guy said $1000 for an ear crop they tried telling me im not cropping my dogs ears, i laughed at them and asked where they thought they get an opinion or say about my dog!!

Wow that's really crazy sorry you guys experienced that. My first vet visit was free, I just paid for vaccines and then his last vaccine set they charged me like not even $25. Not saying I like ALL the vets there, some just seem stupid but for the most part I really like it there. Even my boy likes it there but he's a weird one who likes vets offices lol

Not during a transition it should be straight quarters and backs for the first 3 to 4 weeks then slowly add in organ meat one at a time. With a pup especially it will upset their stomach to get much more for the moment supplementing viatimins and such will help for now what their not getting.

Before you switched your dog to raw, we're you concerned if he ate something dead, and then licked you?

Dogs eat gross things and luck gross things. Unless you're ingesting their saliva or feaces (I wouldn't recommend it) you will be fine. Jerky can carry salmonella so can some rawhide.

If you're feeding chicken you would eat, then I wouldn't worry.

Your dogs stomach first needs to get used to digesting raw. Kibble sits in a dog's stomach for so much longer than raw. So the digestive enzymes need to change. You will see bone in your dog's poop for the first week. This is normal. You will stop seeing this when your dog's stomach enzymes change to digest bone. There is so much that a dog gets out of bone. After a couple weeks on a high bone content diet you can then add other protein sources. Some people stick to just chicken, which there is nothing wrong with. Whether you're adding different proteins before adding organs or just adding organs it's the same deal. When your dog's stomach is ok with one protein source (minimum 2 weeks) you can add another, increase the bone content when you introduce a new protein. You can do this until you are feeding the whole ark if you like. (avoid pork) when you have added all the proteins you would like, then increase the bone content and add some organs (lungs, tripe and heart are not considered organs) so brains, liver, kidneys, spleen will be the organs you use. When you start adding organs you can then start getting the 80-10-5-5 ratio balanced in your pups diet.

80%meat (This will include lungs, heart, tripe, muscle meats, fish) 10%bone (Not weight bearing bones. You can give these for recreation, but this bone is the bone he ingests) 5%liver (it has most of the vitamins your pup needs) 5%other organs (what ever is not in the liver will be found in the other organs.

I can tell you that I personally feed 7 different meals a week, with organs every day, and coconut oil and fish oil every other day.

Glad to hear that the food thing is working out.

I think you should only think about getting another pup in a years time. If you get one at all. These dogs are a lot of work.

I agree with Katey. Once your pup hits the adolescent phase it's going to be much much harder. Do you know how many times I wanted to add another? 8weeks-5months was a breeze compared to now. I could not imagine TWO right now.
