Raw food home made - Help

So... I've just gotten into raw foods. And my dog loves it. I found a few websites that sell them but it's kind of expensive. I've bought meat grinder off Amazon and decided to make my own.

Here's my list so far:

Salmon head
Coconut oil
Wheat germ
Chicken feet
Turkey neck
Beef
Beef bones
Liver
Spinach
Blueberries
Broccoli - (is broccoli good for dogs)
Carrots.

Any advice would help. I plan on grinding everything up this weekend.

Thanks in advance

Why do you need a meat grinder? The bone is what helps clean their teeth.
Preymodelraw.com would be a good place to start for raw feeding info. Ditch the wheat germ. And the fruit and veg would be good snacks or treats, but they don't really need them in their diet if you are feeding them a balanced one.
Research is the most important part of feeding raw. Pick a program and stick with it. You can tweak it as you go.

Thanks. Th grinder sucked, I'm returning it. And after I spent all that time I figured out that would be the best way to go... I've looked at buying raw foods online and it's $$$$. So I was trying something.

Bones don't grind easily and are better for their teeth to eat whole anyways. Just steer away from load bearing bones like femurs. I mean, except in chickens.
And yes, that premade stuff is wicked expensive.

That's good to know. He doesn't really like chicken feet. I tried, but he loves everything else so far.

Ecko likes them well enough, Cheza isn't interested at all. I bought them as a novelty more then anything else. Ecko eats a 1.5 lbs a day and chicken feet just feels like a wast of money since there's not a lot of meat on them and meat is what they're supposed to get the most of. I found beef kidneys at Publix the other day and bought every last pack. I felt like I hit the jackpot. It's hard to find organs around here besides liver. At least not since my butcher retired. Every now and then Publix will get something weird in. When they do, I by it all. I have two chest freezers so I can do that. Beef heart a couple times a year, kidneys about once a year. Summer is my favorite because pork ribs go on sale.
I could go on for hours about raw and shopping and my dogs favorite things. I don't have anyone to discuss raw with around here.

Oh, hit up some local pet stores that specialize in food, I have one down the street and she gets in frozen ground green tripe. That stuff is what doggie dreams are made of. Probiotic, all the veg a dog needs, and they LOVE it. It smells awfull, so don't ever thaw it. I buy it in a bag pre-rolled into kibble sized pieces and add a few scoops to each meal for Ecko.

Lol... so you give them raw pork? For some reason I thought it would be bad. But I guess if you freeze it your good to go. I still included one cup of dry food in my feeding about once a day. I don't want to have him 100% raw. Just in case...

I do use pork when it's on sale. The US has such stringent inspections and most of the pork in grocery stores have already been frozen once for transport. Trich is almost unheard of in farm raised pigs now. I live in FL and will occasionally get wild boar from a friend when I run into him. That has to be frozen a few weeks before feeding to kill any trich that might still be there. If you live in the north, then you shouldn't feed wild pork at all as the stains of trich up there have been adapting to the cold, so freezing doesn't always kill it.

Ecko gets no kibble at all. I tried the best high end allergy free kibbles on the market. At one time I was paying $70 for a bag. He was still getting ear infections and hives.
His meals this month consist of chicken thigh or two legs, a giant meat ball of buffalo and beef, beef kidney, scoop of green tripe, and a small piece of venison trimmings. Bovine Colostrum, fish oil, bee pollen, and one 24 hour zyrtec (for his environmental allergies) and a chicken leg in the evening.

Geese that's good eating!! I'm mostly beef, bison, fish head, coconut oil, yogurt, and some dry food mix, oh yea and some liver. I don't have an exact mix.

Beef and Bison are better for them then chicken, but it's pricey in central FL which isn't the cow part of the state. 8:1:1 is the rule of thumb. meat:bonergan
2% of the dogs weight is supposed to roughly be the daily intake. But it's OK to just eye ball it. If weight is gained then reduce the intake and if they drop weight, increase it. It took me about a year to figure out Ecko's best at 1.5 lbs.
I have access to all kinds of fish. My ex's son was fishing just for Ecko for awhile. Turns out, he doesn't understand how to crunch it down. Literally every time he eats fish I have to pull it out of his throat and make him chew it again. He's not the brightest bulb in the package, but I love his derpy butt anyways. LOL!
