Deb we go around and around. You stated in your post that if he was using kibble then
Quote:
ok
. I said if he is using kibble too the dog should be getting some of the vitamines and mineral that he needs. I never stated he was getting all of them. He is not feeding any veggies or grains so the dog would be lacking in those if not for the kibble.

We are not going to go round & round b/c I will agree with you. I stated ok when I thought he was doing more then he said. What I mean usually when someone states a little then mean 1 to 2 cups so in that would be ok due to it has carbs and some supplements.

But when he stated about a very little amount well I have to fully agree with you. But I do not agree with the grain when you are even using a little bit of kibble.

Again I ONLY feed one of my dogs grain due to he can not keep bulk on his body (Conan) so I supplement with OATS ONLY to help him keep weight on.

Sorry If I did not explain myself. It was on a 60/40 split
I was not aware of veggies and figured kibble would fill i'n the void. However, since posting this, I've gotten some veggies. They seem to like green beans and carrots. Also, when I first started this , both my dogs goclose to three cups of kibble a day and no meat. Then I slowly introduced meat to a 50-50 mix. When I increased their activities, they leaned down on me to fast so I upped the meat on them.
So when I said very little kibble I meant less than half.
What types of grain do you use thattbey digest fairly easy?

Well when I feed raw to Chalice I gave her squash, carrots, spinach, green bean, cauliflower, yogurt, chicken wings, some chicken livers (only once a week) cantaloupe, pineapples, bananas, some blueberries ( in season). And Brown rice. I would switch up her veggies and offer broccoli, turips, beets( she did care for them) okra, zuccini rutabagies. Pretty much what I cooked for us I set aside some for her. I would puree alot of it as she was a picky eater so if I knew she didn't care for a veggie like the beets I would puree that and pour it over her rutabagie as she loved them.

Actually if I were you I would decide if you want to feed all raw or all kibble.

I would have went the raw food route with Vendetta but she is a terribly picky eater. I cannot get her to eat chicken or beef. She hates almost all human food. I said almost all she does love cheez-it crackers.

Hard decision :-) I only experimented with raw meat since they were extremely pi my before . They seem to do well on this mix but I'm contemplating on a all raw diet but I need a larger freezer first

Your veggies need to be basically pureed that way the nutrients are absorbed. Deb can clarify exactly why, but from my memory the pureeing process breaks down the cell walls which make the veggies usable to your dogs. Other wise veggies are useless fillers.

Pureed or grind them .. its not that they are useless b/c dogs still ruffage to help with the digestion process.

Useless would state they do not need them. But in FACT they do.

Cellose is something that mamuals have a hard time breaking down but we do break them down to what we need.

Just feeding RAW meat can cause many problems in a mamual body .. The only mamuals that do not need Ruffage are CATS thats b/c they are pure carnivores and ruffage is something that causes them to have urinary tract infections & well as crystals in the urine. The other mamuals that do not need the Protein count like Dogs / Humans are Deers & livestock etc.

I hope this helps you to understand .. if you need more please ask
