Feeding my boys salmon 1x a week, but how much....please respond.

I need some advice on how many oz of salmon to feed my (2) dogs.....Titus is 14 weeks and around 30 lbs & Tequilia is 9 months and 70 lbs. The can of salmon is 14 oz and says it has (7 servings in it and that a serving is 1/4 cup. I only feed them salmon once a week and on that day I don't give them any fish oil capsules and this is the first time feeding them this. I was going to give Tequilia 1 1/2 cups and Titus 1 cup......or should I give them more or less.......They usualy get 2 cups of dog kibble (Canidae all stages) for breakfast and dinner. I don't know if I should give the same amount of salmon as I give dog kibble......so I am asking you guys/gals your opinion.......Thank-you for all the info you can give me, Rob

you are giving capsules why are you wanting to feed salmon as well. Not to mention adding it once a week can cause digestion problems due to adding something new in the diet only ONCE a WEEK!

Your dogs dont even need the capsules everyday, you can be giving them 3x a week and be good with that. you are going to be adding to much omega 3s in these two pups

NO can not cause damage but it can and will cause a pup to have the runs all the time not to mention a very oily skin and coat. There body does not get rid of omegas 3s like it does vitamin C or Calcium. The body stores it in the skin which will cause to much oil.

I am not sure everything you are doing for your pups now.
Please list everything you are giving:
Food?
Supplements?
Extra Vitamins?
Etc?

And I will help you put something together that is BEST for your boys.

Here is what I give them both:

Tequilia (9 months old 70 Lbs)

4 cups of Canidae all stages (2 in the morning 2 for dinner) (1200mg fish oil cap with breakfast & dinner) (only giving fish-oil caps 3x a week now)

Titus (14 weeks 30 lbs)

3-3 1/2 cups of Canidae all stages (1 1/2 in the morning 1 1/2 for dinner) (1000mg fish oil cap with breakfast & dinner) (only giving fish-oil caps 3x a week now)

I would greatly appreciate anything you could put together for me....$$$$$ is of no concern, I want whats best for my (2) boys........rob

Just a bit off topic, but is that enough food for your little 'monster'? I've been feeding my pup 2 cups in the morning and 2 cups in the evening for the past month (Canidae ALS also), and am wondering if I should add more. He'll be 17 weeks tomorrow and when I weighed him this past Monday he was 31.8 lbs.

I dunno...I just cut it back because I kept being told that he was fat. I was feeding him 2x2 also. I'm thinking about going back to it though....rob

I dont mean to be RUDE but do you feed KIBBLE or RAW?

On one post you put out a diet on RAW feeding?
Now you post about how much kibble you feed?

Come on now please explain

I don't know, I've never done the raw diet and don't think I ever posted anything saying I did. I do feed them salmon once a week but that's it. I've always stated that I feed them Canidae kibble....I'm lost as to what post you're referring to....sorry for any confusion....rob
