Knee Problems

I was at the vet the other day because my baby was hopping around on three legs.. it turns out that her back left is lame, and that because she's putting so much stress on the right to compensate, the other one is eventually going to go lame as well. they haven't done xrays, so we're not sure yet.. he said it could be a torn ligament, or maybe fluxating platella. we're doing a tramadol and rimadol routine for two weeks, and we're doing physical therapy twice a week for six weeks. we have her on special (and very expensive!) joint food, and she has to be crated during the day again, and her activity needs to be limited severely (our beagle is very upset that she can't play with her right now).

Does anyone have any experience with this, and can offer advice? Thanks!

I did (and still do off and on) with mine.
Mine begun limping and then avoided jumping inside car and also going up steps was painful to watch. Mine had an inflamed knee joint...this is what Xrays showed. The problem was worse and very noticeable after she went on run with me. I thought perhaps I pushed her too much. Vet said no. It was more a case of a knee jerking problem that never healed but surely must have been worse with the exercise. I was training her for WP and had to stop that.
She did about two weeks of low-exercise and walk around the block on leash.
The distance was spread across the day instead than all at once. She got better.
However as today the problem is not eliminated. She seems to have it only after exercising when joint becomes stiff during rest phase. Does not seem to have any problem whatsoever during performance. Example she jumps like a deer. Like you would never think that she has a problem. But she is half crippled 3 legs dogs later on in the day. She has compensated enormously by using her front now she lifts herself up to jump on couch more of a pull up instead than using her back legs. Her anterior legs are so strong.

A friend of mine told me that it is an ACL ligament problem and it can be taken care of...with surgery. And is your dog over weight? I think this is the first thing vet look at.....
