  1. Conditioning
Hey all, so I am looking at building a more consistent and well rounded conditioning routine than I currently have. I just bit the bullet and bought a sled, so now we can work with heavier weights than the chains he's been dragging. It is a 30 lb power sled so right now I am not adding weight to...

My little one is young still, I'm not concerned about working her at all yet. However, im curious as to when you guys tend to start different aspects. I haven't pulled out the flirt pole yet, and haven't rehung the spring pole, but do plan to. at what age do you start using them? She gets lots...

I am trying to follow the Bill Hillman "Training Your Pet with the Electric Collar The Soft Collar....". I don't feel like I can follow the program exactly because my dog is very highly trained in obedience. We are completely new to field training. She knows how to retrieve, come when called...

I have written an article now about 5 times on conditioning and haven't been able to get any posted, this is another attempt and I'm getting faster and less in depth ea. time, so bear with me, I'm going to write this in sections because when I don't write too much I seem to be able to post...

Hey guys, I am three weeks into conditioning Roxy. Blue has been conditioned already but hes not a mutt like Roxy is. I know this may be genetics, but I want to make sure I am giving Roxy a fair chance at getting into the best looking and best shape she can be. The pics are at the bottom of this...

So, aside from giving the dogs a workout on occasion for the fun of it, or having them tag along on a 4-wheeler ride or hog hunt, I've never really decided I was going to condition one of my dogs, and then get out on a daily basis and work towards that goal. Well.. now I have. I really do not...

I thought I'd make a thread to follow Silas during his time getting conditioned. Now, he's a lazy boy so he doesn't like to do flirt pole or spring pole (I'm still trying to find something to entice him) but he LOVES long walks and playing fetch up and down our stairs. Aside from that, he plays...

What are some good exercises for lazy dogs? I have an awesome spring pole that only my oldest will use and hes a grandpa! The younger ones love going for walks but they are so lazy I nearly have to drag them sometimes! Once they get a little older what are some things I could do to help build...

Winter is upon us here in IA meaning snow. Does the cold weather have any impact on working out with my dog? I do a lot of running in a wooded reservation so plenty of steep climbs throughout the day. Wasn't sure if the snow would limit him any due to the cold. Thanks for any help.

Subject: The Six Week Keep Sat 31 May 2008 - 9:59 The Six Week Keep Day One: Before you even start, worm your dog. Go to a vet and get a pac cell count done. This will tell you if your dog is healthy enough to proceed. At this time, it is also wise to get a babesia test done. Fix...

I'll document the conditioning I do on Indie for the 2012 season.. here. :) Let's begin with how she looked before I started. Feb 2012 Since these pics were taken, we have been doing flirt, runs w/ the walky dog, a little bit of drag (about to be bumped up, big time!), and swimming/dock...

I have a red nose who is 7 years old. I'm concerned he may not be getting adequate strength conditioning. Someone suggested getting a doggy weight vest for him to wear when we go running. Any thoughts on this? Have you used/known anyone who's used it? Was it effective? What would be appropriate...
