Hello ,
i got my pups ears cropped yesterday and they didnt turn out like i wanted... they are too pointy. Is it better to make adjustments now or wait? I feel bad for making him go through it again... i have no clue how they will look when he grows up. This is my first dog. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Its generally a one and done procedure. They don't look the same healed as they do still stitched. So you may be pleasantly surprised by the healed ears.

That's one thing I can't stand. Why would you mutilate your dog? It doesn't do anything for the dog. You might as well force your kids to get their ears chopped off. I'm sure they would appreciate it.:curse:

Why do people pierce baby ears? Why do people spay/neuter puppies and kittens?
It's cosmetic, it's a choice.

Why do people worry about what other people do I think is the bigger question here. There is nothing wrong with cropping a dogs ears other than someone will always comment how disgusted they are that people do it. It isn't like it's done while they are awake. Like what was already said, why do people do a lot of things people do. Because It's their choice maybe?

I can't see a photo to say how they look. Plus It's really hard to tell until they are grown just how they'll turn out anyways unless they vet really butchered the job..

I haven't had a crop done in a few decades but I have always liked the look. I just prefer natural because they are very expressionate with their ears. Plus the vets around here won't do them how I'd want them. They always did them too tall of the head. I prefer a battle crop. Basically the whole lobe gone. They'll stand 4" off the dogs head if I let the few who crop around here do it.

Because for the person it's nothing more than purple eyeshadow or an expensive watch. If your parents had cut your ears off when you were a baby, because they "liked how it looked" would you be ok with that?

Piercing ears and circumcising is just as permanent as a crop. There is no difference between them. They are cosmetic and the choice of the owner or parent.
I'll assume you spayed/neutered your dog though. That is removing entire organs, and is also cosmetic.
Inch or two of cartilage vs entire organs. Perhaps you should look in the mirror before judging others for their personal preferences.

Did you just equate neutering a dog to chopping off it's ears?? And also a baby getting ear rings???

LOL

Yes, yes I did. It's purely cosmetic. As is cropping, piercing, and circumcision.

Circumcision is not cosmetic, it's done for sanitary reasons. I don't believe in circumcision either but it's also a religious thing.

Difference between ear cropping and piercings is we as people have the decision ourselves make to decide to do so, animals don't.

You can reverse ear piercing but you can't reverse chopping off an ear.

All things said, it's up to people to chop their dog's ears off...not really a logical comparison to circumcisions.

Circumcision is no longer a sanitary thing. We use soap now, so it's not a valid excuse anymore. Babies do not get a say in their ears being pierced or their foreskin being removed. Piercings are not reversible either. There is always a scar and in many cases still a hole. You can keep trying to preach, but if you aren't preaching against ALL cosmetic procedures for dogs AND babies, then you you should just put your soap box away and sit down.
PS. I have a cropped dog, spayed/neutered pets, and a daughter whose ears I had pierced as a baby. I chose to take the cosmetic route in all cases to make my own life easier as well as that of my animals and child.
