My sister joined a different dog and at the meeting last night they were told about a tracking seminar that is happening in May. She called and I want to go so she signed Vendetta and I up for it. Vendetta will be the only pit bull. This club is mainly into hunt but the lady didnt bat an eye at having a pt bull on her porperty. Here is the site

My sister said that Peggy wants to open this up too other breeds right now they only have retrievers. They didnt let the aussie in last night. I am hoping to get some pointers on training Vendetta hunt. We are having troubles with dummy retrievals. She only likes the orange cloth dummys.

Vendetta does know how to tracking. I started training her last fall. It is hard to find things to do with our dogs way up here. Plus it is nice to get pointers from other trainers.

I started teaching Vendetta the find it game when she was just 2mos old. ( I got her at 4wks). I would hide treats in the house and have her seek them out. It got to the point that I would have to have my son take her outside so I could hide them for her. We set up searches for on the property too. She has an amazing nose.

I really want to do search and rescue at some point. I also am trying to train her to do hunt trails even tho they(dog clubs) dont want to include her because she is APBT. I do it for fun.

Thanks Tom.

I started training her last fall but had to stop because of all the snow. This year I hope to have the basics down better and we can work through the snow. She has a great nose on her. The thing is I dont have any one that does Search and Rescue training up here I would have to travel 4hrs one way to get the help I need so I bought these books.

Search and Rescue Dogs Training the K-9 Hero it was put out by the American Rescue Dog Association

I have a tracking harness and a 50ft tracking lead. I only pull them out when we go tracking. She is use to pulling that long rope through the tall grasses already. I have already hooked up some new sites for this year different types of land. SOme upland some swamp and of course lots of woods. I am going to start collect human scent from my co-workers to use. All of them said they would help me out on this end.

Oh I use " lets track" to get her going. My dog is amazing when it comes to understanding words I bet her vocabulary is about 200 words. She knows left, right, back , foward, so she knows the diference between car, van and truck. She is totally an amazing dog. I know that we can do this.

Thanks so much for all of your help thus far and I will be sure to pick your brain when I am stumbling this summer on this endeavor.
