Hey guys,

Just had another vet visit and the little rascal weighed in at 26lbs. He's 13 weeks tomorrow. His sire weighs right under 80lbs. Do you think he'll be bigger or smaller than his pops?

It's so hard to say with puppies. Both of Dosia's parents are in the 50's. His mom was closer to 50 and the dad was a bit bigger probly 55 or more. Dosia is now 2 years old and right around 75lbs. He was a freak puppy lol. I think his growth may have changed due to me neutering him before he was mature.

He was just around 4 months I think. Ive been reading a lot of stuff lately about the affect of early neuter in dogs. Some say that it can cause them to keep on growing because they don't have the right hormones to tell their boy to stop. His breeders kept a pup from that litter and she only ended up being 47lbs, they were very surprised when they saw how big he had gotten.

It's no exact science. You can kind of guesstimate but it's nothing positive. He's a great looking little guy though! That's for sure!

Dosia just might be one of those genetic freaks. It happens but not very often there will be a pup that just turns out huge. I wish I could remember what thread it was that Lisa was talking about genetics she had some good info on the genetic freak dogs :)

it not unlikely you'll get a 75-80 but dogs grow different, they say 2yrs for thesed dogs, although some are grown in 8-9 months.. enjoy them while they are a puppy ;)

Mikado - thanks! we can't say that too loud though, it'll go right to his head! he's confident enough as it is!

Firehazard - thanks for the input, i like your avatar, great action shot!

KG420 - Yeah, i plan on getting him neutered at 6 months, err at least that's what my vet recommended. Dosia IS a super freak! Just look at those eyes!!!
