Possible BSL Alert...

There are inconsistencies in the taped news story and the printed story below. However, the news video states the town marshall is going to approach city officials about banning pit bulls in the Summitville city limits. I know our Indy people will keep us updated on what's going on there.

Pit bull bites 3-year-old boy in the face
Associated Press
SUMMITVILLE - A 3-year-old boy was bitten in the face as he was petting his grandfather's pit bull.

The leashed dog, which weighs 45 to 55 pounds, tore a flap of skin from the cheek of Blake Michael Lee Martin of
Alexandria on Monday, Summitville Town Marshal Tony Hendrick said.

"For some reason the dog just reached up and grabbed the kid by his left cheek," Hendrick said. "Not a pretty sight."

The injuries weren't considered life threatening and the boy was in stable condition. He was being prepared Tuesday for surgery at Community Hospital in Anderson, Hendrick said.

The boy's grandfather, 41-year-old Bobby Day, owns several other pit bulls.

Hendrick said he was going to look into citing Day for having a vicious animal because the same dog bit another child about two years ago.

The dog will be quarantined at a kennel for 14 days as a precaution.

Summitville, where the attack occurred, is 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
