Immunotherapy??

Hi All!

I am looking for some feedback about allergy. I have a 1 1/2 year old pit-bull that developed severe allergy when she was about 5 months. I have been dealing with this for about a year now and still looking for solutions. She itches all over her body and has hives all over her body too when she gets pretty bad. Her hair has become thin and dry. After taking her to several vets I decided to do the blood test to find out what she was really allergic to. It turns out she is allergic to 19 different allergens. I started her on immunotherapy and hope to see a change in the coming months. I would like to know if anyone has try immunotherapy and if they have had any success? I am exhausted to say the least and would like to receive some encouragement that there would be some light at the end of the tunnel. She is the life of the house and I love her deeply and would do anything to make her better. Any suggestions is highly appreciated. Thanks!

What is she allergic to and what food are you feeding her? You may want to look at her diet and also think of adding omega 3's and 6 into her diet with either salmon oil or flax seed oil. Also what color is she? From what I hear the blue dogs are more prone to allergy and skin conditions. I would really consider doing your own research as you are by asking questions and before you start hyposensitizing her with injections by the vet who will gladly take your money :-/. I have seen dogs who have had thinning hair and skin conditions due to allergies and once there diet was switched (high quality food/grain free) and proper supplements were given there dogs did a complete 360.

Thank you for replying. She is allergic to chicken, turkey, potatos, grasses, fungis, roaches in total 19 different things. I have switch her diet several times. I have been given her omega 3 and Omega 6 on her food. I don't think she is allergic to anything I am feeding her right now. I maily feed her Wellness beef, lamb, salmon, venison or Evo beef. She has not really responded to anything for a long period of time. She is a blue nose. I know some of her siblings and at least 2 of them suffer from the same condition. I don't know what else to do.
Stick with it! I know dog who have gone on immunotherapy and they have done better after a while. I never have had to deal with it on my dogs but have clients who have. It is a struggle I hate to see dogs and owners go through.

That is really sad that she isn't responding to diet and omega 3's.......I guess if all else has failed then I would go ahead with the immonotherapy shots. Sounds like you have done your research and have tried numerous things. At this point you have nothing to lose. Good luck to you and keep us posted on her. Poor baby :(
Thank you for the encouragement. We are going through a rough time with this allergies.
Hey Snookie, I did immunotherapy with Neela for a long time. It really did work very well!
