I am sure some of you remember my thread I posted about my restless puppy that needed to be confined due to an injury. Well, I thought I would tell you the whole story and give you an update, since I didn't really talk much about the injury since I was so worried about him.

When the injury first occurred he was completely limping, would not put any weight on the leg except the smallest amount to walk. Moving the leg around was very painful and caused him to cry. I examined him myself before taking him to the vet and could see the injury was in the shoulder.

He was taken to the vet, they examined him, then took blood work and X-rays. They could not see any fractured or a dislocation, but said there could still be fractures that are not visible in the X-rays. So, we were referred to a specialist as there was also a possibility of torn tendons.

Puppy did have a fever and believed to be due to a possible infection from the injury. We were sent home with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, pain killers, and complete rest.

The vet called the next day with the blood work and it was confirmed there was an infection. We finally got in to see the specialist and it was confirmed that there were no fractures. It was then later confirmed that there were no torn tendons or neurological damage.

It turned out it was just the infection and a strained or very badly bruised shoulder. The puppy is now doing well, he is out and about and much happier to be out of that darn crate. The infection is gone, swelling is all gone, and there is no limp anymore and move the leg causes no pain. He is playing up a storm and just as sweet and lovable as can be.

Here is a photo of him with one of his toys

Glad he's doing well. One of my dogs was injured not to long ago, and as soon as she was better, she was running around crazy for hours trying to make up for the playtime she lost.

Thanks everyone! He is doing much better and as playful as can be, however I am still not allowing him to play as much as he wants as I don't want him to over do it to soon and possibly make the shoulder sore again. He is still getting lots of play time, but just not 24-7 playtime quite yet.
