So we have trained Bentley for the most part to not jump on us, but its when we have visitors that he just forgets everything he knows. Do any of you have any tricks or advice to get Bentley to not jump.
When he does we immediately say "Bentley, No!" He's 60 pounds now so when he jumps he has a lot of force. He just gets SO excited. I just wanted to see if there is any advice. We do tell people when they come to tell Bentley no but that doesn't stop that very first jump when they come inside.

Thank you for your help!

have him on a leash until he is calm enough to introduce himself politely, or work on his sit stay command and make a specific spot he has to stay when people come over and dont let him off it until you give the ok { when he has become submissive and calmed down} this will take some repeating the 1st few times and can be time consuming but worth it if you stick it through. { great for if you have some planned free time and can arrange someone or various people to come by , cause when you reset him in the sit stay you need them to reset and come to the door knock ect come in. if you give into him though at any time he will learn that his behaviour just won and will do it again so be consistent.} Thats just some of the things that works best for us { we also tell our friends no eye contact , talking or petting until he has calmed down and behaves , and they know if he does jump to turn there backs to him , he doesnt like being ignored they usually jump for attention}

thank you... we haven't tried keeping him on a leash.

We have done the sit and stay, its been tricky though. He "acts" calm and when you say "okay Bentley" he goes crazy again.

The leash thing we will definitely try. Thanks again!

I loved the leash with loki he is sooo big and when he jumps its a big deal , can knock most of our friends over . with him we stood on the leash when he acted like he wanted to jump { which was all the time lol} but it gave him less room to actually go upwards since he was pretty much tethered to the ground rather then up higher in our hands { hope you could understand that lol , was thinking how to word that best } but just hold the leash and then step on it so he doesnt have that slack needed to move upwards. but again with this method still tell your friends or visitors no eye contact ,no touch no talking to him, until he has calmed down and then you can allow them to great while he is still on the leash so if he does act up you can correct quickly.
