As yall know I have been expecting. Well My girl just had a litter of 4. Had last pup 2 hours ago. She was doing great now she wont stay with them to eat. She keeps wondering around house whining and acting like she is looking for something. She has been out and ate. I put down clean bedding and think it confused her, or she thinks there is a pup missing, or just not gonna take to them. She is almost 2 yrs old. 1st litter for us both.:sleep::sleep:

TIA

My Parsons russell wouldnt take care of her pups at all, for any liters. I had to hold her down so they could nurse, for weeks. She ignored her pups completely till they were moving around, then she taught them to play. Im not sure about how good APBT's are at being mommys.
You should take her in to the vet and make sure she had all her puppies. A vet check is something you normally do after a dog gives birth.
Get her to the vet asap like aimee said... Also you have 2-3 days to get dewclaws removed if you wish to do so.Good luck
ya thinking maybe she has another pup in there still? pep was pretty restless until all the pups had come out. otherwise as stated above you may have to hold her down to make her nurse those pups , big job but better option then having to bottle feed them.good luck, let us know what the vet says.
She's under 2 years old so she's probably still mentally a puppy. You may have to help her out for a while until she figures out what she's supposed to do. I would sit in/near the whelping box with her and convince her to lay down and let the puppies nurse. Are you sure she was only carrying 4? If there's a puppy retained that could well stress her out. (I'll leave off the lectures for now because they wont do you any good in your current situation. Hopefully the experience itself will convince you to wait a while and learn a lot before you breed again.)

As everyone said before get her checked to make sure she isn't retaining a pup. Good luck with this litter and I hope everything goes good with momma.
everyone one stated what needs to be done.... 2 is a little young to be bred... Good luck and I hope everything goes good with the pups :)
hope she is doing well, be sure to post some pictures of the pups as they grow :]. good luck!
I second that. Any pics yet? I'm sure there super cute :)
Everything is fine now, she is feeding and RE-cleaning pups. She will leave them, but is coming back every few mins and every time they cry. For some reason I think I may have triggered stress when I changed her bedding?? I had planned on taking her to vet last week to confirm how many pups she was carrying, but had wrecked my car a few weeks before and had to get another car (95 firebird trans am I LOVE IT) anyway on top of that I was hit with some legal issues that set me farther back financially. I had just got out of jail last night welcomed by my loving bitch in labor, I knew soon as I walked in. So now Ive got 3 new tickets and still aint got my car back from being impounded AND on top of that my son has strep, so ALL this is gonna set me back even farther. I am getting car back tomorrow and depending on my funds I MAY be able to get her to the vet then to make sure she is not retaining anymore pups. Tough luck, I know, huh? Its been very exciting around here as you can see lol. That's why I've been MIA. Hows it going for yall?

Ill get some pics up in next few days. Im wore out at the moment

ouch sounds like a busy time .. GL and cant wait to see the pic of the babies
Changing the bedding shouldn't bother her that much. Twilight didn't nurse her puppies until she was finished birthing them all.

Hope things start going better for you.

I wouldn't think either, but I think if it did it had something to do with the scent b/c she kept going to it like she expected a pup to be there. I should have gave her more time to settle. Think she was still going thru the motions... I helped her out too much and think she lost track of how many she had. They came fast . First was at 730 then 8 then 807 and 820 every time 1 came I would take them and put others to the side so she could focus on the 1 coming out and not crush the others. I also rubbed them off some trying to clean and warm them. The 1st I tore the sack from it b/c she was busy cleaning other fluids lol It stopped moving so I thought it couldn't breathe , that's when I removed sac. The rest she was on top of and did a great job of stimulating and everything. Think I just panicked. Im still excited.. he he:hammer:

Glad she is doing better. I never thought of pup retention (little dogs would be easy to see that)

hope the judge goes easy on you...been there done that...
glad the pups are doin good... hope everything goes better now :)
glad things are doing beter...every litter we have had with one exception has been smooth...good luck with all the personal drama...for what it is worth maybe the pups can help you stay focused on what is worth getting stressed over. You are healthy and able bodied, food is available in your living quarters and at least you have a place to live full of love from the best breed in the world. Keep putting one foot forward. Looking forward to the pix.
Oh man sorry to hear about all the bad luck :( I'm glad your ok though, wrecks are so scary. Glad to hear momma's doing better and taking to her pups. I can't wait to see some pics.
Thanks for all tha kind words yall
