We have a 16 week old pupper. We waited a year for her and in that time I actually got into running. I have a somewhat masochistic goal of running a local ultramarathon (the JFK 50 a 50 miler) by the time I turn 50. Which is in 10 years lol! Gotta start somewhere.

I would love to make her my running buddy. How old should she be before we start and what is tje best way to begin?

Hand walks, flirt pole and spring pole with all four feet on the ground until about 18 months, then you can start to work a little harder, longer hand walks with light jogging, flirt pole and spring pole with two feet on the ground. Most folks go all out at around 2 years and up. I personally would hold out until 2.5-3 years, just to make sure everything is set where it needs to be. Also have hips and elbows/knees X-rayed before you really go all out. Torn CCL can be the end of an athletic dog, even if you spend the money on surgeries.
