no dog should left unattended in a pool area. ESPECIALLY a dog with muscle mass like a bulldog. even if they grow feathers and quack. eyes on your dog at all times.
1. put a fence with self-closing gate around the pool.

3. teaching the dog to swim is good. teaching them how to get out is better. *dogs that die in a pool usually drown by exhaustion, not because they can't swim.
4. not all dogs like swimming. this might be a selfish goal.

thanks guys! your recc’s are all super helpful. luckily there is a tall metal gate surrounding the pool area so he cannot go there unattended. hopefully this summer he will gain more confidence around swimming. will def focus on him recognizing the stairs entry/exit point as most important step.
