I stumbled across this site looking for some arguing points to oppose the farces pitbull owners have to put up with regularly. Any links to good ones, especially data based reports would be most appreciated.

I have to admit that I wouldn't have found myself owning a pit (more of a mutt guy myself) if it wasn't for a personal tragedy that left me with one. Now I wouldn't trade him for all the tea in China. Right now he is busy keeping a comfy chair from floating away.

Welcome! As a pit owner you are going to get alot of ish for your dog breed of choice. You just need to have a tough skin and ignore it! Believe me we have all been through it here many times. The people who have comments to make are ignorant and uneducated and only go by what they see on the news media when one attacks. Stick around, you will learn ALOT here! I enjoy it thoroughly

I've got fairly thick skin, I just like a bucket full of water when I face a fire. I'm not opposed to learning a new trick here and there.
BTW, I'm a veterinarian and I've spent a fair bit of time in court as a witness for the state. I've sent an animal abuser or two to jail.

That is great! We could use a veterinarian on here!! It would be nice to have a real vet answer some questions here and there.

I'll do what I can. I can't make any promises that I'll be in here a lot though. Lord knows I waste enough time fiddling about on the net when I've got yard work and bike maintenance/restoration needing to be done. :hammer:

LOL! That's cool....don't be a stranger though

Seems as if many people sign up here, post a few times and then never to be seen or heard from again LOL! This is a great place and the best pit bull forum I have found with almost all the regulars being very RESPONSIBLE owners giving this breed a good name and trying to break the negative image so many have of this breed.

I'm a bit of a motorcycle junkie.

I've got a 1978 Honda CB750K I bought new and subsequently killed with neglect while in vet school. I've had it back on the road for the last 17 or 18 years and it has been an ongoing restoration project since.

I have a '98 Honda Valkyrie as a main ride for long distance & have been fighting the woes of ethanol containg fuel. Dried out fuel lines, clogged fuel petcock gubbins, and multiple carb rebuilds. I was quite happy to find a source for ethanol free gas about 20 miles from my house. The only problem is they have a tough time getting deliveries and I suspect they may drop it all together some time.

1976 BMW R75/6 that I bought as platform to add a sidecar (mission accomplished). I have had to do repeated engine work on that one. I think it has a poltergeist living in the right cylinder. My hearing in a full face skull bucket seems a bit limited and I've fried a piston & blown a head gasket on two separate occasions. It currently sits with a nasty backfire problem that I "think" is a sticky intake valve. Runs like poop and will blow the carb clean off the intake boot. Not too good for my hearing!

I also have a fleet of old Yamaha two stroke street bikes (RD series from the 70s as well as an early R5). They're in various states of running &/or disrepair. Wanna buy one? 1977 RD400 running, 1975 RD350 running, & two 250 RDs, & another 350 RD non-running all for sale. I got these some years ago from a guy that wouldn't just sell me the R5. I had to buy all or none. I had the 400 out earlier today on a shake down run after replacing some of the electrickery components.

Then there's the dirt bikes & quads...

My friends all ride HDs and VW trikes. They just shake their heads.

Thanks for the welcoming. Nice looking pups in the photos.
My wife and I just returned from a trip south. Oddly enough, for a breed that has the reputation that pits do with the general public people seem to be drawn to our boy. If wagging your tail and licking were a sign of aggression Barry would be a vicious dog!
