Do you mean they look ACD and APBT? this is hat he says they are
3/8 Border Collie for herding instinct and intelligence.
1/8 Catahoula for the ability to trail and find cattle, also for the slick hair coat and toughness.
1/4 Kelpie for endurance and also herding instinct and short hair.
1/4 Australian Shepherd, only a dog called Black Bear went into this breed.
He was an extremely tough dog with enormous ability.

Yeah, thats the mix that made this breed. From what I have been reading on them.

The originator of this exceptional breed is Gary Ericson, who has bred the Hangin' Tree dog for over 20 years. He has the unique ability to put the best of the working cattle dogs together. The Hangin' Tree Cowdogs are a mixture Border Collie, Kelpie, and Catahoula Leopard, and one Australian Shepard, Black Bear, who was the only Australian Shepard used in this breed.

in my way of thinking,it's the cat that makes the dog complete.
when you think about it, the other 3 are very similar in too many facets to be independantly responsible for what they portray the dogs as being.
being the owner for 11 years of an ACD, and seeing some ACD and pit mixes as hoggers, you would see the cat features.
still a nice dog.I would have one.
