Yep, add me to the list. Oliver is getting TPLO surgery on his back right knee on Monday. He had a bad limp for a while so we kept a close eye on him and allowed no play in between him and my other pit Zoe for a few weeks. The vet was able to move his knee in and out of place by hand and she recommended that we see a specialist. He's 65lbs from what the surgeon told us and from what I've researched that is the best option for him. I know it's very common surgery but I'm just a little scared as this will be the first time that he's had anything this serious done to him. He goes in Monday morning and they told us that they'd want to keep him until Wednesday.

Here's when I introduced him to you all,

and here he is now.

Good luck!!! Everything will turn out just fine.

If you need any advice or have any questions or concerns or just need someone to talk to, just message me! My boy Kane had his TPLO on the 31st of August. He goes in on Tuesday for an x-ray to confirm his knee is healing properly and, if all goes well, he'll be allowed to gradually return to exercise.

jsgixxer that is great news!

Oliver's surgery went well today. I spoke with the surgeon and he said that their were no issues and Ollie handled everything well. They are going to hold him for a couple more days and then I get to bring him home.

Good luck to you and Oliver! I can also help if you have any problems, questions or concerns during the recovery or about the surgery itself! Between two of my dogs I have had 5 knee surgeries, 2 TPLOs, 1 TTA and an extracap(the 5th was just a short arthroscopic procedure to remove his torn meniscus) and I also worked as an orthopedic surgery vet tech at the University of Florida vet school for 5 years so I am very familiar with all the ins and outs of knee surgery! Hope all is well! :)

Thanks! I will keep that in mind.

Keep us posted on his recovery
Will do! I went by this morning to drop off some food for him. The nurse smiled as soon as I walked in and assured me that my boy was doing fine. She giggled and then told me that he chewed through his tport iv last night. I guess he misses his beef bones :D

I should hear more by the end of today...I might even get a time to pick him up.

out of curioisity... How did he handle having two knees at once? How did he get around afterwards? I assume that Ollie will be limping when he gets out.

He did not have both knees done at the same time. He had one then 4 weeks later he had the other.

Oliver is home. He was happy to see us!

He isn't enjoying the fact that he has to stay in his crate, though. He won't stop whining. I think it's just because he can't love up on his family. :(

This next 6 weeks of crate confinement is really going to suck.

EDIT: wow he got used to it quick. He seems to have calmed down a great bit. Dinner should cheer him up! He's getting sweet peas in his kibble tonight :D

So how is everything going?
Things are going well. It took him a few days to get back into the swing of things but his eating is back to normal and so are his bowels. We were a little worried because he didn't do anything but pee for two days but soon enough... :poop:

He is using his leg as much as possible and the incision looks great also. He has a huge hollow beef bone in his crate to keep him company but it's killing him to not play with our other dog.

Thanks for asking!!

I am glad to hear that everything is going good.
Thanks!!
We go for the incision check next week. While I take him outside for eliminating he will two foot with his back legs but he uses them one at a time more than I see him two footing.
