I have 3 dogs, so there is a lot of food and poop going on.

What do you guys do with your poop? Just throw it in the trash? Anything else we can do, like something that could help the environment or any other ways to dispose of it?
Thank you family!

You're supposed to dispose of it in the trash. According to my county's website "Landfills are designed to safely handle substances such as dog waste, cat litter, and dirty diapers." whereas compost sites, sewers, etc are not equipped to handle the amount of waste produced by an urban or suburban area's domestic animal wastes.

I did contact my local waste company and they did say the same.
We do dispose of it in the trash. But I was just wondering if there Were other ways to go,.like if there's something better.
Thanks Carriana!

There are companys who will come pick it up . they usually leave a bucket and you dispose of it in there and they pick up weekly or bi weekly depending what you need. they are pretty affordable, they also will pick it up in the yard if you cant poop scoop but charge a bit more to have to do all the work. google dog waste removal in your area to see who offers it.

See if there are any "Care Farms" in your area, this is one of them in the So OR area Sanctuary One: People, animals, and the earth: better together.
and try contacting them for ideas. I have seen alot about, as previously mentioned, doggie septic systems. They seem like a good idea but likely only if your outside of city limits, and not near a water table, check your local codes.
We just bag and trash ours, we pick up according to the trash day, no one wants a weeks worth of doodie sweltering in the can ;)

I let nature take care of it or mow over it but i guess with three dogs that would really start to pile up.

When I lived in the country with 20+ dogs we'd save some of it and spread it around our propety, outside of the walkable areas, it helped keep snakes and snapping turtles away. But for the rest we'd scoop it up, mulch it up, and use it in the hay fields for fertilizer.

Now I live in the city and I just scoop it in a pile. If it gets too big I spread it out, wet it, and try and mulch it into the ground. Luckily my dog's poop decomposes pretty quickly.

I put barely straw with mine and bury it; I got a spot that nooks just down from the dogs, mtn property and I pile it there with the barley straw. The weather is the catalyst to the chain reaction of breaking it down. Barely straw produces bacteria and enzymes that eat up all the :poop: essentially.

In the city I burried it, I dug a good deep hole and put it all in, when the rains came in the fall I put ridx in there and burried it. Dug a new hole for the next year.

I always study the laws and legislature of the places I move. Why else do you live there? This is the United States, there are free' er states than others, but they have less social services than well, socialist type states.
