Hi all,
I am new here, so I hope I posted in the right place! I am the proud new owner to Nyla. She is a pitbull and husky mix...her mother was the pitt. I hope its okay to post since she is a mix, but she looks like a pitt with bright blue eyes. I was wondering if anyone could guess how much she would weigh. She is only 8 weeks old now and I took her to the vet and she was 2 1/2 pnds. Everybody else says their pitbulls were 12+ pnds at this age. She is healthy, but did have worms which she is being treated for. It just took me back that she weighed so much less than the average

i believe when Cairo was 2 months he was about 17 lbs.. 23.12 lbs at 3 months and almost 39 lbs at 6.5 months... 2.5 lbs seems really small for 2 months, but i am no expert. pix would be great tho, must be an AMAZING mix!!! we would love to see.. The forum is an amazing place for great info and the people are really great and nice.. you can learn alot from them...

Welcome!!! looking forward to seeing Nyla.

Well, the problem is you are listening to people who have no clue what thy are talking about... This is why:

There is no specific puppy chart for APBTs to tell what the weight should be. Different Bloodlines produce slightly different sizes and there can even be variation within a litter of pups. Then remember sometimes there is a runt in the litter which doesn't even sound like the case here any way though...
There are other factors on top of the genetics such as nutrition, overall health, environment, care and also with rescues not knowing for sure the other breed is mixed into the pup and the size of the other dogs behind in the heritage is also an issue. Thus it really doesn't make much sense to try to find what a exact weight should be for this pup.

As long as your pup looks healthy and is thriving, I wouldn't worry about an exact number.

Enjoy the pup... they grow up so fast!

I wanted to also add all APBT pups are born with blue eyes they almost always change but adding husky in may mean the eyes will stay that color. Eye color is usually done changing if it is going to at about 16-24 weeks of age give or take.

Of course there is not a standard to how much these dogs will weigh at certain ages, especially if yours is mixed, its sort of like a mixed bag, not really sure what you'll end up with! My boys were both 5lbs at 6 weeks, and just kept gaining from there. My boy Kaos gained at a rate that was alarming to me since he seemed to be growing so much, but the vet said to keep feeding what I was feeding and that was that.
As long as the vet wasn't concerned, you shouldn't be either. Just keep and eye on her, treat her worms and feed her good quality food!

Weight

We brought Jak *Blue nose pit* home when he was 7weeks old, he weighed 18 #'s on his 1st Vet visit, SHOTS, 2 weeks later he weighed in @ 26 #'s, Fast fwd, this week he turned 14weeks and on this Vet visit he weight in @ a whopping 50 #'s...

The Vet told me that in 2 weeks when he gets his last shot, Rabies, she will have a gage on what he's projected to weigh, she thinks as of now, 110#'s...
He is eating 7 and a 1/2 cups of food daily. This guy is a Monster, the biggest of his litter and his mammoth paws. I am afraid of what I have to spend in food monthly to feed this Ox...

Jak.
