My 10-year-old blue male named Titan just grabbed my new puppy Tessa by the throat and shook her like a rag doll several times after he heard her crying because she hurt her foot outside. He dropped her after I grabbed him and he didn't bite or puncture. Just shook her around a little bit. Is this typical behavior when they hear another animal crying in pain?

I wouldn't call it typical, but now that you know he'll do that, you cannot leave them together unattended. Frankly, I wouldn't let them interact at all. He easily could have snapped her neck doing that.
