Just watch it to see if it gets better, it could be anything. You could try giving your dog a bath with dawn soap, it could be a contact allergy from something and the dawn strips the coat of dirt, oils, and contaminants. Only do this once or you will really dry the coat out. I bet what ever it is will go away on it's own if not post another picture and we can help brain storm.

i feed deja puppy chow for growing large breed
I would take them off of that because they are not a large breed of dog. They are a medium breed. Also, try what performanceknls suggested as it could just be a contact allergy and check back with us. I would also switch to a non grain dog food because a lot of dogs are allergic to grain and that could be the source of the redness. My dog had something similar on his stomach when I used to feed kibble.

I feed a grain food but a good food. Puppy chow is crappy food so I would switch but I would guess that is not food related. If it was food related you would see it in the ears and other places, not just pop up on top of the head like that.
