whats up everybody, Chico does something thats strange to me hopefully somebody could clarify for me a little bit. So when anybody touches him anywhere from the beginning of his hindlegs and back he freezes and doesnt move, His legs become kind of weak, and he non stop licks his nose. I dont know if this is a sensitive spot for him, and I dont think it hurts him cause when people touch him there it seems like he is getting the worlds best massage. I am just not sure what the cause of this is or what it might be that is making him do this everytime.

Also on another topic chico has been licking his butthole alot and pretty aggressively, i know that this usually happens for dogs with fleas, but he recently had a dip, and a shower as well as frontline applied so could he be doing this for another reason?

Thanks in advanced for the help from anyone that can give me some information about these behaviors.

To answer your last question a friend of mines dog did that and she had to have her anal glands drained I believe.

I am not exactly sure. Her dog was completely fine and picked up same day from it. I think they put the dog under but I couldn't say for sure. I remember another thread that had mentioned it. Ill try to find it when I am able to search through on a computer. I'm on my phone currently.

It's where they express the anal glands. Vet's go a little deeper then an average groomer, but the dog does not have to be put under.

Sensative skin is something that a lot of bull breeds deal with. Ecko has a similar reaction when you scratch his scruff, or the base of his tale. He gets his anal glands expressed as needed and it doesn't effect the sensativity of his spots.

Yea. What ecko said. :) lol I wasn't sure. It was a while back so I can't remember what happens lol.

Funny thought: my phone tried to change ecko to wacko haha. Glad I caught that:)

does he drag hs butt on the floor? That would be an indicator of anal gland issues as well.

As far as the freezing, that's usually an indicator of being uncomfortable. Partnered with the lick/nose licking and your boy doesn't want people doing that to him. i would work with him yourself and let him know nothing bad happens with he is patted there. Or is it just a typical dog loving a butt rub? My boy loooves a good butt rub, he walks away when he has had enough. might be misinterpreting what you are saying...

Thanks for all the replies I am going to ask my vet about the anal gland issues.

Ames he doesnt drag his butt across the floor, but I think for chico its leaning more towards him liking the feeling of being touched in that area, and yeah I know he enjoys a good butt rub!
