Has anyone run into this before? I have a 2 year old blue and never once had an incident with him jumping out of the back of the truck before. Yeasterday he cartwheeled off the side at 20mph in the neighborhood on the way to the park. I took him to my vet but they said he'd have to see a specialist because it's not common, he's on pain meds now but the specialist is booked for another 2 days.

My opinion would be to not let your dog ride in the back of a truck freely. Other than that I don't really know what you can do, except keep on the pain meds and get into specialist asap.

I agree... So many sad accidents you hear about where the dog goes flying out. My dog trainer told me she saw a dog fall out on a corner on the highway and get hit by another car going the other way. It's so much safer to secure them or just have them ride inside.

I also agree to wait for the specialist and see what plan of action they suggest.
