I was wondering about how long does it take a dog to earn a title such as champion? Whats the max amount of points a dog can earn at a show in 1 day for 1 certain event? I ask b/c I want to get into show and wp soon, but I will be limited to the southern states and prob still wouldn't be ale to make all the shows.

I know once a dog reaches 100pnts it earns CH. status, but is that dog limited to only earn 5-8, or whatever it is 1st place pnts for the day then wait for another show to add on to its tally for that yr? Could someone with knowledge please help me out? Thanks

Rowdy my 6 year old dog made Ch. in 3 shows. I still have no clue of the points system but if you win your class you go to best in show, if you win that it's much more. There will be many people that will responed that has being showing WAY longer than me..... where is Lady Rampage lol? Also I'm in GA as well, there is a lot of good dogs at the shows here!

Doesn't it also depend on who your showing with the point system might be different for the UKC I am pretty sure it is .. Lindsey, Performance Kennels, Lady Rampage, Patch-O-Pits, those ladies would know for sure. First you need to look at your dog and get an idea of what standard your dog falls into. Each Registry has a different set of standards. I couldn't take my dogs to UKC shows because they don't fit the standard. They are ADBA style dogs. Once you know where your dog fits standard wise you go from there. These ladies will jump in and give you a break down on the point system though. And Secd is right there are some fine looking bulldogs in Georgia lot's of competition at the Adba shows. Good Luck to you.

And to the OP, there is no set limit on how many PTS in a day or show. Your dog can win in its class then move on to the trophy classes. You can do conformation and weight pull in the same day with the same dog.

Once a dog has achieved 100 points in either the conformation or weight pull, it is given a "Champion" or "Ace" title. A certificate is mailed to the registered owner reflecting the title dog has achieved. For each additional 100 points earned (i.e. 200, 300, 400, 500, etc.) another title is given. Example: Grand Champion, Grand Champion I, Grand Champion II, etc. or... Ace of Ace, Ace of Ace I, Ace of Ace II, etc. When your dog has earned 200 points, a plaque will be presented to recognize your dog's achievement. G/C I or A/A I and higher are also presented with a plate that is to be hung from the Grand Champion plaque, showing the additional titles achieved.

I see the answer was found!! Course I only know the ADBA side, I've never shown UKC.

ADBA is very clear, I CH'd 2 adults last year, one in 3 weekends, and the other in 4 weekends. The adult points add up very quickly! A dog can CH in 1 weekend if its a 4 show weekend, an adult, that takes 1st in its class and Best of Show all 4 shows. Its rare but it happens!!

The UKC confo is similar for CH points as well but the dogs have to have 3 major wins ( Best male/female or higher class) under 3 separate judges as well as their 100 points to CH.

Thanks. I knew how the points worked just wasn't sure about how long it took to earn them. If it was like all year all over the place, or if possible to do at a 1 location, or a few locations, b/c like I said I will be limited to the south and even limited in the south if you know what Im saying

Jrama the problem comes when you start winning you become addicted and just may find yourself saving up your money to travel to the next show..lol

That would be exactly what happened to me, and these days I've been as far as GA for a show (thats 15 hours for me to drive).. there are others out there that travel all across the US.

Agree with LR! Its soooo addicting! And when you don't place its motivatiuon to do better and work harder. I don't know how but I always make a show near to me. Its like crazy luck. Farthest i've driven was 10 hours to New Mexico :)
