A few weeks ago, my husband and I discussed adding a puppy to our family.
However, with Keira only having JUST gotten over the crazy puppy stage, Josh was reluctant to start over. So he cut me a deal instead of flat out telling me no. I could look for a small (Small?? Geez, who does he think I am? Paris Hilton?) dog that someone wanted to get rid of. Okay... so I did. I ended up with a (to put it lightly) lot of work, lol. We got her Saturday.
Meet Selphie.
1 year old
Supposed Jack Russell... but I see Rat Terrier in there.
The guy told us she was housebroken (which she is)
and that she'd been spayed, and generally made it out to sound like she was a pampered housepet. Oh God, I wish he'd been honest. It's not that there is anything wrong with a little work... but on the first day, I couldn't do much with her. She was a hellion. Holding her was out of the question. She bit my daughter in the face for petting her. She bit any part of me she could reach while I was bathing her, and she terrorized Keira. Oh yeah. And it took 2 baths to get the grime off of her. When he handed her over, he said, "Yeah, she's kinda dirty, we been keeping her on a chain in the back yard."
On a chain?? She's about 10 pounds!! And she was pretty badly sunburned. Aloe and plenty of shade here is healing that, and the vet said she looks good. Guy lost his job and decided that he needed to find homes for his 6 or 7 dogs. Geez.
Luckily, Selphie (we named her-- he said he knew that "she had a name when we got her" but that he couldn't remember. Ugh.) has calmed down some. The biting stopped, once she figured out that I wasn't going to let go when she did, and that it wasn't going to fly in this house. She's clean, sunburn is going away, vet approved her health, she's heartworm neg, worm free, and now UTD on her shots
She's a little ball of fire, and Keira and Caesar like her. Poe even likes her, and he hates the other two dogs!!
She's really smart, and I'm having a TON of fun teaching her little tricks. She's mastered "Sit" and I taught her to spin in a circle when I twirl my finger... it's adorable
Here's a couple more pics, since I'm sharing:
 She really REALLY wanted that roll that Brianna had
