So I usually don''t post anything in here unless it is directly to do with the new mexico sanctuary but with recent events thought I would pass along the news on how Villalobos NO have been doing since hurricane Isaac.

Here is a little blurb from the NO site today about the flooding they are dealing with.

Hurricane Isaac kicked our ass! The New Orleans location is fine with the exception of some flooding but it didn't affect the dogs. Evacuation center out in the country worked out great. But sadly the Cheech and Chong house and Tias house along with the two other satellite houses were destroyed by severe flooding. The two rescue vans and work truck are also gone. If there can be a silver lining, our dogs are okay and we rescued today: one pot bellied pig whose cage floated away, one cat off of a roof, one blind Border Collie who fell into the river, 3 dogs floating down the river trying to scramble onto a submerged car and a mama dog with her newborn pups. How ironic that several animallls tonight are no longer homeless and its us humans that now need rescuing. A bittersweet day.

Please keep Tia and her family and volunteers in your thoughts as well as all the rest effected by this storm. Hope they make a quick recovery. Glad to hear the dogs are all ok but sad to hear she has been dealt another blow after the past year she has already been through.

I was reading about it all on FB. Its so sad and ur right she has already delt with so much! And to hear how much they lost in this storm, it just breaks my heart. I don't have much to give at the moment so all I can do is keep them in my thoughts!

I wish u the best Villalobos!

I respect Tia greatly...she may not always make the perfect decision but she is a damn good rescuer in my opinion.

I wish her and her family and the dogs the best and if i had the money I would go help with what i could..

I don't always agree with her, but yes what she does for dogs is an amazing thing. I know what it takes to care for 14 dogs, I couldn't imagine the amount she deals with. She does have help, but my dogs are all OB trained and easy compared to rescues coming and going, plus the added emotions to things she has to see that have happened to these dogs.

I do very very small scale rescue and it is a lot of work. I give anyone who can help out animals great respect, and those that can help out such a large amount just wow.

i finally got to watch the season premier of pit bulls and parolees, and i must say i teared up from surprise and joy to see the turn out for their grand opening. yes a lot of people turned out to see the "stars" but seriously to see a crowd like that for a breed that has been so misunderstood and hated. it just was an overwhelming site. and all for pit bulls! just our one lil favorite type of dog?! they received 100+ adoption apps that day alone if i remember right.

so yes even though Tia isnt always right, and the dogs arent really pit bulls (APBTs) and the editors of the show like to hype up the drama. it is an amazing show and i love watching it :D
