I guess soot could fit with the personality too,
Soot flies up off a fire rapidly then comes down to the ground slowly.

Y'all are better at naming than I am.. lol.. most of the time I don't even pick out my own dog's names... then I end up changing them a million times before I send papers inRocky

Lmao! Onyx is too common of a name for a black dog, imo, but you could always go with opposites lol. Name him Cotton, or Charmin or something lol.
