I was watching some tv yesterday and there was this court show come on called Swift Justice with Nancy Grace. i was very mad after watching her show because there was a case about a pitbull that attacked a shitzu. The owners of the apbt brought pictures of their dogs laying with their children as evidence that they were not violent dogs. Well Nacny didnt even listen to what they had to say and told them that they were bad parents for even letting that dog around their child and it really bothered me because we have 9 apbt and we have a 3 year old, a 1 1/2 year old and a 6 month old... That woman really aggravated me because she didnt even ask what the shitzu done to provoke the apbt...

Seems like that is the norm especially when it comes to the mainstream view of pitbulls. I recently saw the same type of reaction on a Judge Judy show where she did not even let the pitbull owner speak and basically scolded him as to why he would "own" such vicious dogs and have them around his family... she awarded the plaintiffs the case without the benefit of the defendant explaining his side of the story. I wish that these ignorant folks would take the time to understand the breed, or at least listen to those that have the experience. Now if it were truly the owners fault and he/she did not take the proper steps in containing his/her pitbull, then I have no issues with the outcome. But at least listen to both sides of the story. No wonder the world is the way it is... sigh?!

Simple-People fear what they don't understand and unfortunately the breed got in the hands of the wrong people, causing some bad publicity. Now every breed enthusiast has to fight for what they love. All it would take is an open mind and someoneone willing to learn. However, we all know that is unlikely. Many ppl only see and hear what the media has to say rather than hands on experience. Where I'm from- I've seen more maulings on people from police k9's( and I mean maulings that the handler couldn't stop and caused a lawsuit) than from "pitbulls." Yet the k9's are used In law enforcement and search& rescue work. That being said, I get stopped more for my GSD and complimented on him than my bully. Problem is- he will bite you before the bully will. People will continue to be judgemental until shown otherwise and this breed needs more positive publicity.

it just aggravtes me badly. I got mad last week cause there was a dog on the news that attacked a little girl & they were calling it a apbt when it looked more like a lab mix but anyway I had some family members call me up just to tell me about it and say well lets hope that never happens to your kids..... Nevertheless, I still haven't talked to her again

It is sad when people who are ignorant are given positions of power...

Fear and ignorance go hand in hand are are a downfall in society as a whole in many areas...

Breedism just like racism is a form of sheer ignorance.

I wouldn't expect Nancy Grace to have an informed opinion on any subject.
I agree. I've really grown to dislike her. They shouldve just kept her on CNN

being a first time pitty owner i have already had ppl give me dirty looks and grabbing their kids away like my dog was in attack mode and all he was doing was sitting nicely and wagging his tail bc he adores kids..but when kyser was 4 months old i was at a local pet store and there was a halloween contest...we were ab 10 feet away from a boxer on a flexi leash(hate them) when the dog attacked my ky...poor baby flew backwards and i got the boxer off of him...thankfully there was not wounds but not two seconds later before we could even get away he attacked again..this time cutting him under his eye..after i got her dog off him again-boxers owner just stood there--i said loudly in front of everyone...so much for the pit bull being the vicious one!!! but of course the boxer owner tried to blame it on me by saying that i shouldnt have brought a intact male near her dog...hmmm..he's a 4 month old pup---and i was on the other side of the room...stop making excuses for you aggressive dog--after this i realizied pit bulls are america's scapegoats and its easy to blame one breed then for all breeds to face the truth--any breed of:woof: dog can be aggressive!!

man that Judge Judy gets on my nerves. How does a person like that ever become empowered in the first place?

just the other day, she wouldnt even let one room mate get a word in. I think she just immediately chooses sides when they walk in the court room.
