He was diabetic starting 2 years old.
Went blind from cataracts a few years later.
Had a doggy stroke, vestibular stroke.
Euthanized Lung cancer at 10 and a half.

I would love to get another apbt but I don't want to deal with all the health issues. I must have spent 25,000 on vet bills. So much stress. He lived a long and happy life and I did right by him but I can't go through that again.

The dads dad was grand champion but his mom was from streets.
I got him from a girl I was dating. He was one of thirteen.

Thanks fosterDog. The reputable kennels wouldn't produce a dog with those kind of problems. That is why I was wondering.

Yes I would like to consider a reputable breeder but i can't find any.

Sure is easy to find german shepherd breeders though.
Have like 4 different local breeder options for them and zero for apbt that I can find.

No idea who pamela perdue is. And the only website breeder i could find crops the ears of its dogs.... uhh what. sad.

No they are not in danger of going extinct fosterDog. True breeders only breed when there is a reason to and that reason isn't to make money or supply people with puppies. If you want a true APBT you usually have to wait and expect to get screened. The breeders want to make sure to who and where their dogs are going.

fosterDog, use your favorite search engine and look for APBT breeders in your are. Check the peds on their dogs and see what they are breeding. You will need to research what you are looking for. Once you find the bloodline that you want contact the breeder and ask if they have any breeding planned in the future.
You could try checking any shows (should be coming this Spring) and go and talk to the breeders in person. With Covid, things may be on hold for awhile yet. Try contacting the phone number at THIS site and ask them for recommendations.
You'll have to do the learning and footwork and determine what you want. Hope this helps.

I've been searching for an entire month already so telling me I have to do footwork doesn't sound very helpful
Mostly its a bunch of dead ends like this http://sevensinsapbt.wix.com/sevensinsapbt

Spent weeks trying to find any sort of facebook or contact info for seven sins and they have fallen off the face of the earth for all i know. like most other apbt breeders.
Or there are some like this Puppies that are oversized and inbred. Not what I'm looking for.

I'm on the waiting list for FlossDog and they do seem great so I'm glad to have found them.
but that technically gives me zero options since it's either them or nothing RN. So there is no point in asking the breeder any questions if I have no alternative.

When I briefly considered a GSD I found a half dozen local reputable breeders in hours, man that breed is everywhere and APBT is struggling.
Maybe the ADBA number will help though I'll give that a try. Thanks!
