I just about over did my capability and patience yesterday with the meat shopping I did. Ugh - packaged up everything 'cept the 2 chix and 2 turkey breasts and the tilapia last nite - will finish tonight. Even had to overflow into the human freezer LOL. I don't usually buy this much at once but 4 stores had sales that I wanted to take advantage of!

I finally got over paying $1.79 for some things and stocked up….(FOR MY ONE DOG). Here was my score yesterday - 4 stores and $75.75 and 56 lbs of meat later….. I finally did some math - tho this does not include what was already in my freezer…. Keep in mind, I currently feed ½ kibble AM and ½ raw PM.

This does not include the random eggs, canned tripe or canned sardines, etc. - I also get whole mackerel for $2.00/lb that is not included here, which is fed once a week. I also feed chicken for 2 days or so and then alternate with a different meat.

LB $/LB TOT COST FOR RAW (serving size approx 8 oz)
2.00 lb $1.49/lb $2.98 TILAPIA (2 fish)
1.98 lb $0.99/lb $1.96 BEEF LIVER
10.73 lb $1.77/lb $19.00 HAMBURGER 80/20
3.81 lb $1.79/lb $6.82 BEEF HEART
2.73 lb $1.69/lb $4.61 PORK ASST'D CUTS FOR POZOL
2.91 lb $1.79/lb $5.21 PORK CUSHION MEAT (boneless)
3.35 lb $1.59 $5.33 PORK NECK BONES with some meat
^ every time I buy these pork necks, I swear off of them since they are soooo and dense 
0.54 lb $1.69/lb $0.80 CHICKEN HEART (already had some)
1.28 lb $1.69/lb $2.16 CHICKEN GIZZARD
11.62 lb $0.69/lb $8.02 WHOLE CHICKEN (2 whole chix)
14.03 lb $1.49/lb $20.90 WHOLE TURKEY BREAST w/ bone (2 whole breasts with bone)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
56.00 lb $1.35/lb $75.75
TOT LB AVG/LB TOTAL SPENT

KIBBLE - KIRKLAND CHICKEN (right now; serving size approx 1 cup = 4 oz)
40 lb $1.60/lb $25.00 (approx)

DAY / MONTH / TOTAL SUMMARY

PER DAY raw $0.68
PER MONTH raw $20.29
PURCHASE SHOULD LAST 3.724 months

PER DAY kibble $0.40
PER MONTH kibble $12.00

That's awesome I had to stop feeding raw because of the raise in bison meat price and I was feeding my oldest dog a pound a day but I've been debating going back to kibble in the am and raw in pm I just need to budget for it.

I'll have to come up with some figures, but when I fed kibble Orijen which is not cheap, I am spending less per month on raw than I did with Orijen. I also buy on sales, and mostly bulk. I am feeding two 70lbs dogs, both gaining weight, ones a 11 month old puppy, other is a sorta for fun weight puller. I feed total Prey Model Raw no kibble, no veggies besides grass in my yard, nothing else.

Here's just a few of my cost's.
Beef Heart .99 a pound
Beef Kidney $1.05 a pound
Liver (Chicken/Beef/Bison/Lamb) free to .99-1.69 a pound
Pork $1.49-1.99 a pound
Beef $1.49-2.99 a pound
Lamb $1.99-3.99 a pound (Normally buy a whole Lamb @ $1.99-2.99)
Chickens whole .69-.99 a pound I rarely buy other parts in-less they have chicken quarters for .59 a pound!
Fish normally around $2.00-2.50 a pound I don't use Talipia as it has little to no Omega fatty acids. I also catch some of my own freeze them for a month then feed.

I'm currently feeding roughly 3-4lbs a day was feeding 5-5.5 but I'm cutting back the pup now.

Always interested in others, and other meat sources! Feel free to post them!

Cheers,
Chad
