15 week old pit ear crop problem!!
I just got my 15 week old pitbull puppy's ears cropped yesterday morning. Everything went good until we got home. I seen that my puppy was miserable and his plastic e-collar that the vet gave him was squishing his ears down. So I looked on line for other options. And i seen some breeders use "the towel e-collar" which is suppose to have the same effect just a little more comfortable for the puppy. So I tried it and he was doing fine all day today until he finally reached one ear some how to scratch it. So i immediately put the original e-collar back on because I was afraid of him ripping out his stitches, just to be on the safe side... But when I looked at his ear, he had ripped one stitch in the middle. I drove 5 hours to the vet where he got his ears done, so I cant necessarily just drive back. Don't know what to do. Wondering if i should take him to a local vet even though they don't do ear cropping if necessary?? Help please. New to ear cropping and welcome to any helpful advice.

Any vet can redo one suture, no need to make the drive back.

I don't even know why I am responding to this, as I...
LOATHE (w/ALL-My-Might) the practice of:
"Ear Cropping."
I consider it ABUSE - Plain & simple. No 2 ways about it.
Oh, I guess that IS why I came here...
To say exactly that!

How is it different then spay/neuter? It's all cosmetic. No different then piercing a babies ears, or circumcising a baby.

I suppose.
However, I am against the practice of piercing baby/toddlers ears, as well.
Plus, a quick, one second pinch you feel, in your ear, is a lot different than taking a scalpel and slicing off a chunk of a dog's ear.
For what, so ppl an say:
"Wow man, Gladiator looks so much more intimidating w/those ears...Nice!"
Now, I DO support the practice of ear cropping if it's used as a way to avoid chronic ear infections.
Or, any other medically necessary reason.

You are aware that they put the pup under anesthesia first right? They don't just take your pup and lop its ears off. That pinch of a piercing gun vs a scaple is like comparing a buick to a schwin bicycle. Your comparison makes no logical sense at all. The pup don't feel anything during the procedure, they're out cold unlike a piercing. Like was already mentioned, it's no different than any other minor procedure. On top of that many vets give pain meds after for the owner to give to make it even less uncomfortable while it's healing.

The reason the owner chooses to crop is irrelevant. You don't have to like it, it's not your dog.

It shouldn't matter when the post was originated.
People are still getting their dog's ears cropped here in 2020. Are they not?

They are and there isn't anything wrong with doing it if that is what someone wants to waste their money on. If you don't like it then simply don't crop your dogs ears. It's that simple. Just because you feel some type away about it, with no real good reason other than a misguided opinion on it don't really mean much to anyone but you..... Lol you know what they say about opinions right....

Isn't that what we're all doing here, giving our opinions?
Mine is no less valid than yours.
I think it's an unnecessary practice plain and simple. I don't care if you want to go get your dog's ears cropped go for it.
My opinion is it unnecessary unless it's for medical reasons.
