Great answer. He's right. Only one pitbull American Pit Bull Terrier, but there are other great bully breeds that get tossed under that umbrella. That particular dog looks as if he's on of those other breeds, but I couldn't say. Typically, the
APBT is smaller. Usually they don't exceed 50-55 lbs and contrary to popular belief don't have huge heads. The Am Staff or the Staff usually have the larger blockier heads. I'm by far no expert. My brother was into perdigrees and all his dogs had huge pages of pedigree. Most of his dogs were bred by Tom Garner thought by many to be the best
APBT breeder in all of North America. I had one of his dogs and he was my soul mate, but sadly had to be put down at 7 from an illness that had gone to his kidneys and I couldn't afford a kidney transplant ($20,000). Mine now come from Shelters. Both of mine say
APBT mixes. My vet still laughes and says he wants to know what they're mixed with? Another
APBT? They're phenotype is so
APBT it's hard to believe their genotype isn't pure breed! It's their body structure that has him convince and their musculature throughout their body. They're kind of like a youngling black man. That's what American pitbull terriers of always reminded me of how you can see all their muscles in such a beautifully defined way.
