What age to start weight training?

I've been doing a lot of research into how soon I should start training my pup for weight pulling and I'm finding that the answers are all over the board, some seem to have sound reasoning and other seem to just be a matter of opinion. My personal logic based on my own weight and sports training through life would be to start him out very light when he's young and progressively build the weight as he gets older and bigger. But what holds true for humans of course does not always hold true for dogs so I'd like to get honest thoughts and opinions preferably with explanations on those opinions.

As far as weight pull you should start desensitizing from and early age around 4 months or so by simply getting a puppy pull harness and attaching a gallon plastic jug with rocks in it for the noise. This is just desensitizing but, not weight training you should never start real weight training until maturity IMHO. This is so there is not a ton of strain going on the joints that are still fusing. Now also chains are not that big of a deal as long as they don't exceed half the dogs weight. There should be no real strain pulling on half their weight. Not to mention a chain has a different distribution of weight so its not stressful pulling but, again desensitizes the dog to the noise and the feel of the harness. IMO i don't think you should move to things like a chain until at least 7 or 8 months. But, this is just an opinion and you know about opinions, Right!? LOL

I think you shouldn't start pulling weight until over 18 months, better yet after 2 years so you can get their hips checked to make sure they are OK for pulling huge amounts of weight. I know lots of people disagree, but I don't see why you want to make a dog pull real weight before they finish growing and maturing.

Getting the accustomed to the harness and dragging chains or small amounts of weight to get them ready is one thing, but actual weight, 2 years IMO
