Traits needed for weight pull?

Hi all my pup is 12mo now and I'd like to look at getting him into some kind of 'job' - he lives a very active life and runs with me twice a day, plus guards at my work and then home to play with everyone. I think weight pull looks much more his speed (he is a bit clumsy on his feet and bowls tables and chairs over, falls out of trees etc so not looking at agility). In your opinion, what traits did you see in your dog that made him/her a good candidate for weight pull? Or if you had to do it over, what traits would you recommend a dog have to improve their chances of success? Thanks in advance
